Portugal is not alone in this housing crisis. A friend of mine is a real estate agent in New York City. One midtown rental for a 1 bedroom apartment was going for $3400 USD per month. That's not the absurd part. The crazy part is that there were 34 people all well qualified in line for that apartment. It seems improbably that housing icosts n desirable urban areas will come down any time soon.
